ST PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
Sat 17 Mar: 12:00-15:00 - City Centre, starting at Parnell Square, Dublin 1
HOW? WHAT? WHY? is the theme for the 2012 St. Patrick’s Festival Parade which will explore the wonder and curiosity of science. A selection of science related questions that children may ask have been explored by Ireland’s leading pageant companies who each will present their imaginative, colourful and thought provoking creations.
Twelve Marching bands from around the globe will provide the musical entertainment for the festival parade. Bands from Ireland, Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom and Russia will join U.S. bands from California, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Texas and Washington to march through the streets of Dublin.
The Parade begins on Parnell Square and continues on to O’Connell Street and over O’Connell Bridge to Westmoreland Street. It then follows Dame Street and Lord Edward Street passes by Christchurch Cathedral and along Patrick Street where it finishes just past St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
If you want to have the best Parade viewing point, stay at home and watch it on TV! If on the other hand, you want to see the parade live in the streets of Dublin, make sure that you come really early because once you are 5 or 6 rows behind the front row, you will not see any of the marching bands or walking performers. The route is much too short for everyone to see it and there are no really good viewing points. But the atmosphere in the streets is typically very good and if the weather is nice, I am sure it will be a great day again. Just don't believe the number of viewers that newspapers and TV AND the festival organisers will claim. [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]

BRAY

Welcome to Bray’s 8th annual St. Patrick’s festival which will run from Wednesday 14th to Monday 19th March. Yet again Bray’s festival will be bursting at the seams with activities and entertainment for all the family. Our most popular events which include Birds Euroshow Funfair, The Boathouse Céilí Breakfast and the Giant Led screen will return as usual this year along with some brand new and exciting events. The St. Patrick’s Festival will host a fantastic FIREWORKS DISPLAY on Mother’s Day across the Dargle Bridge with plenty of activities on the day to keep all ages entertained such as face painting, Céilí music and much much more.

All events are FREE and for this we would like to thank our very generous sponsors, volunteers, participants and the emergency services.
